Lola, Tia and Misty

This past weekend, Misty came down from New Hampshire to visit her sister and meet her cousins Tia and Lola. Here's a picture of all 3 on the couch (this took many, many tries) too bad none of them are looking the same way. They played nice most of the night and only 1 fight broke out that involved some tumbling across the living room floor(Lola and Misty), some crying(Misty) and an injury(Misty). Hopefully Misty learned her lesson not to start fights, as Lola has had lots of experience on the weekends with Tia!

How to get a pug to pose for a Christmas card

Here are some of the pictures that didn't get used for the Christmas card (this is only a couple out of about 30-we took a lot of pictures and ate a lot treats!). I'm not really sure what she's doing in either picture, but they're both cute!

Ready for Christmas

Here's Lola practicing for some Christmas pictures. We haven't decided what we're going to do yet, but at least we know she doesn't mind a Santa hat!

Arliss and Lola

I haven't been very good about getting blog-worthy pictures of Lola lately, so I had to go to the photo archives for some pictures. Here's Lola and Arliss over the summer when Arliss came over for a visit. I figured they were too cute not to share, especially the one of Arliss with a mouthful of Lola's wrinkles!

Ready for the rain

I was cleaning out Lola's bin that contains her treats, assorted accessories, costumes and clothing. I found this raincoat and seeing whereas it was way too big when it handed to Lola, she never wore it. So I put it on her to see how it looked, and it is now way too small! I don't think she appreciated having it on while I laughed and took pictures. Looks like Tia will be getting it!

Can I help with the dishes?

I'm not sure what Lola is thinking when she does this, but whenever she hears the dishwasher being opened, she makes a run for the kitchen. I turned my back to load another dish, and when I turn around again she was on top of the dishwasher. Good thing this was before the dishes were done!

Bumblepug

Even though its not quite Halloween yet, we had to try Lola's costume on to make sure she was all ready to impress the other dogs (and humans). It took a few treats to get her to pose on the chair for pictures-she wanted to be buzzing around in her bee costume!

Hot pink corduroy!

Last night's walk definitely called for some doggy dress up. Lola and I were both excited for her to wear her new pink corduroy Old Navy coat. Good thing I remembered the camera!

Pug Pumpkin

I finally got around to making our pug pumpkin before Halloween actually got here. I've been meaning to do it for a while, and then wanted to take a cute picture with Lola next to it. However, she wanted no part of this. She sniffed it, but wasn't too thrilled to have to pose for a picture. The best I could get was a picture of her looking out the corner of her eye at the big orange pug next to her.

Pictures this early aren't allowed

Here's a picture of Lola early yesterday morning. She doesn't look too happy that there was a camera out at 7am (with a flash!). Notice how she's right up at the top of the bed with her head on the pillow-no dog bed for this dog!

Hide a treat

Whenever we give Lola a treat, she usually walks around with it in her mouth whimpering because she doesn't know where to hide it. This time she had a peanut butter bone shaped treat that she decided would be easier to eat instead of worrying about where to put it.

Trying to nap...no pictures please

Here's one of the many pictures I've taken of Lola when she's taking a break. I'm sure she's thinking, "great-here's the camera again-how many are we going to take this time?" But when she's this cute, how can I resist?

Taking a break

Here's a rare moment of quiet time between Tia and Lola. After spending a few hours together, I think they both agreed a rest on the couch was in order.

Helping with the laundry

For some reason, whenever we do laundry and put it on the bed, Lola jumps up and sits on it. Maybe she likes how its nice and warm from the dryer, or maybe she likes the nice, clean smell. I guess a nap in clean laundry is better than in dirty laundry!

Animal Planet

A couple of Sundays ago, we went to the Animal Planet Expo in Topsfield. Naturally, we took Lola and Tia, who were joined by their cousins Harley and Freckles. We met some pretty interesting dogs and lots of pugs, and got some fun stuff to take home with us. Lola's (and Tia's) favorite part of the day was probably on the way home where the car was air conditioned and they could relax.

8 Below

The other night we watched 8 Below and Lola joined us (as opposed to chewing on rawhide or barking for our attention). She must have enjoyed the movie because she didn't move from John's lap, except for this one part where she had to sit up and bark her encouragement to the dogs on the TV.

Hey kid-can I have a kiss?

Here's a funny picture of Lola reaching for a kiss from Kali. It must have been her way of saying thank you for the Frosty Paws ice cream.

Let's cuddle

This past week was our vacation to Disney World with my sister Kali. We had an early flight Sunday morning, so Kali slept over Saturday night. I think Lola could sense that something was going on, because she wouldn't come to bed and she was very mopey. When I went to check on Kali, I found Lola cuddled up with her with a look on her face that said "how can you leave me?" The whole week we were gone we kept thinking about how much we missed her hogging up the bed. Lola had a fun week hanging with Tia in West Roxbury.

Lola and Arliss

On Wednesday, Arliss came over to keep Lola some company. They spent a couple of hours chasing each other and playing, and then to add to the excitement, Tia the yorkie came over for a visit. After Tia left, Lola and Arliss settled down for a nap. Arliss was even nice enough to let Lola use him as her pillow...he must know she likes to cuddle.

So that's where all the socks go...

Lola was caught in the act stealing a sock from the laundry basket, something she learned from Tia. Not only does she stand up and look in there to see what she has to pick from, she also has figured out how to pull the socks through the holes.

Going for a swim

On Monday, Lola and I were over visiting Tia and helping Kali put her pool up. Considering it was about 90 degrees out and the dogs were very hot, we thought we'd see how they liked the pool. After getting their exercise doggie paddling, they relaxed on the float.

Testing the water

A couple of days ago we went to the dog park, and when we got near the water, Lola went up for a cautious sniff. While she was amused by the Golden Retriever who kept going for a swim to fetch his stick, sniffing the water was about as close as she got. I guess this isn't surprising, seeing whereas she'll take whatever route necessary to avoid stepping in even the smallest puddles.

Thanks Aunt Debbie!

Lola got a much needed new bed from her Aunt Debbie, and we think that the pretty floral print suits Lola's girly personality. Lola is always ready for the camera, so I think she knew it was coming when we showed her new bed.

Hide and seek anyone?

Lola found a new place to go when she's really tired, and it's not her dog bed! After an especially long, hot day spent playing with Kali and Tia and then getting bath, Lola jumped up on the bed, burrowed under the pillow and looked ready for bed.

Is that a parrot on your shoulder?

Last night when we were watching TV, Lola climbed onto John and perched herself on his shoulder. Maybe it was more comfortable up there, or maybe she just wanted a bird's eye view!

Bam the fish

Today Lola just happened to look up above her food dish and notice for the first time that she's not the only pet in the house. She stared at our new fish, Bam (Kali has Boo-Bam's other half) and kept opening and closing her mouth like she couldn't decide if she wanted to bark or not. She did eventually decide he needed to be barked at, but thankfully the sibling rivalry lasted only a short time when she realized he lives in his own plastic bubble. Posted by Picasa

Lazy day

On Memorial Day Monday, Lola was definitely feeling the heat. She found this nice spot next to the fan, laid down and didn't move for quite some time.

Assuming the Kong position

Lola's favorite treat is peanut butter in Kong, and it seems to be the only thing that keeps her busy for longer than 10 minutes. Kong treats used to work but then she figured out that if she kept dropping the Kong hard enought her treat would eventually fall out. For some reason when she had peanut butter in there, she has to eat it just like this...it doesn't look very comfortable, but maybe she gets more peanut butter out this way.

Funny face

Here are a couple of Lolas's funny faces that she makes throughout the day

Lola's 1st Birthday

Posted by Picasa
Today was Lola's 1st birthday, so we celebrated with some extra treats and a new cupcake squeaky toy. Lola even sat still long enough to take a picture with her new toy and the birthday card that her pet insurance sent her.

Lola, meet your cousins

For Easter Sunday, we went to my aunt and uncle's in Beverly. Lola and Tia came too and got to play with their Dalmation cousins, Harley and Freckles and all of their dog friends. Lola and Tia were quite impressed with Harley who showed Lola and Tia how to "shake hands" for a treat and was nice enough to let Lola take a break on his bed (although I don't think he was very happy about this!)
